Real Quick: What Wait Magic Actually Does
Quick refresher if you didn’t get a chance to read through my Wait Magic review: Wait Magic is Thrill Data’s Lightning Lane booking and modification service. You tell it what ride, what day, and what time you want...and it keeps working in the background to book or modify your Lightning Lanes so you’re not the one refreshing your phone every three minutes like it’s your second job.
Wait Magic is one piece of a Thrill Data Plus membership, which also includes ad-free access to the Thrill Data site and dining and Enchanting Extras alerts. It’s a third-party service, which means it comes at an extra cost on top of whatever you’re already paying for your Lightning Lanes themselves.
So this guide assumes you’ve already decided it’s worth it for your trip. If you’re still on the fence, go read the review first to see if it’s something you’d like to purchase. This guide’s just about getting the absolute most out of it once you’ve committed.
Okay...let’s build this thing from the ground up.
Which Plan to Buy (and When)
Before we even get into linking accounts, let’s talk money and timing.
👉What you need to know before anything else is that you’ll be able to link your party and set up all of your searches before your pass actually starts. You’ll just need the pass to cover any days that you want the service to be able to modify or book Lightning Lanes for you. We’ll get more into this in a sec.
But first, the tier options…
Thrill Data Plus comes in a handful of tiers (prices listed are from the date I published this—always double-check current rates before you buy):
2-day pass ($25) — covers 2 consecutive days.
7-day pass ($30) — covers 7 consecutive days.
10-day pass ($35) — covers 10 consecutive days
Monthly pass ($45) — covers 30 consecutive days
Yearly pass ($75) — covers a full year.
Lifetime pass ($300) — covers…you guessed it…forever.
👉So, how do you choose which one to purchase?
You’ll obviously want the pass to cover all of your park days. BUT I highly recommend that it also covers at LEAST a few days leading up to your park days, as well. That way, you can set up searches to modify any Lightning Lane pre-selections you’d like to.
My two cents: I’m a BIG FAN of the monthly pass. You’ll get to enjoy ad-free viewing on the site while you’re looking through data to come up with your Lightning Lane strategy, and you’ll get to take advantage of dining and Enchanting Extras alerts for things you’re still hoping for.
Purchasing your Thrill Data Plus Membership
When you purchase your Thrill Data Plus membership, you’ll
👉make an account,
👉choose which pass you’d like to purchase, and…
👉input the start date for the pass.
And one more time for those in the back…make sure the start date and length of the pass covers all of your park days (and ideally some time before if it’s in your budget)!
Thrill Data Website vs. App
One more thing before we get into the setup: for the longest time, Wait Magic could only be used on Thrill Data’s website. But Thrill Data is currently beta testing an actual app, exclusive to Thrill Data Plus members, and I got to try it on a recent trip! The beta is live for both iPhone and Android if you want in.
Here’s how I’d use each one.
For linking your party, I’d stick with the website—it’s just the easiest place to see the instructions and get that initial setup done.
From there, once you’re creating your searches before your trip and managing everything on your actual park day, it really comes down to personal preference. I’ll be honest, though...once I used the app, I didn’t go back. But the website still works just as well if that’s what you’re more comfortable with. Either way, you’re covered.
Link Guests and Create Your Party

Now that we’ve gone over that, the first real step is linking Wait Magic to your My Disney Experience account.
Thrill Data calls it the MDX Connector, and this all happens through Disney’s own Family & Friends List—which is important, because it means you’re never handing over your Disney login or password to a third party. You’re just adding Thrill Data as an official “friend” the same way you’d add a family member before a trip so you can see each other’s plans.
Follow the steps provided on the Wait Magic page of Thrill Data’s website to link each member of your party. Click the “Show Step-by-step Instructions” button for the most up-to-date instructions.
